MOCAMBO Productions released on other labels

Big Single (France) :: BIGS1015 :: The Dynamics

For The Love Of Money (Mocambo Tropical Re-Version)

This maxi single features a Mocambo remix of the Dynamics' cover of the well-known O'Jays' tune. Recorded live in true tropical style with steel pans (American: steel drums), the funk classic gets a complete Caribbean make-over. The result is a sinister piece of steel funk calypso that would not sound out of place in a dancehall selection. It's Mocambo's first appearance on a 12" single and their first "remix" for another artist.

The Next Message (Kenny Dope Edit) b/w Version

What started as a jam session project 13 years ago has turned into Germany’s most prolific deep funk formation. The raw old school funk sound of Mocambo has caught the attention of many DJs and funk enthusiasts worldwide. The group’s interpretation of the Furious Five’s “The Message” - released under the pseudonym “Mighty Mo & the Winchester Seven” on the Finnish phantasy label “Peace Street” sold extremely well without any promotion and proper distribution.  Kenny Dope got hold of the scarce 45 and decided to do some fresh remixes/re-edits of the track which was released on Kay-Dee Records.

Melting Pot Music (Cologne) :: MPM 046 ::The Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band

Look-Ka Py Py (Hawkeye Re-Edit) b/w Ease Back (Hawkeye Re-Edit)

MPM are hooking up with Mocambo Productions and unearth two lost steel band covers of classic Meters songs.
When Mocambo’s Björn Wagner visited Port of Spain during a holiday / digging trip some years ago, he got in touch with a steel band collector. Through this contact, he managed to track down the master tapes of some never released songs by the Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band, all recorded in heavy funk mode. Two songs from this session were released on Mocambo Records in the first place with a limited run of 300 copies.
The single sold out within days and caught the attention of Hawkeye who has edited "Ease Back" and "Look-A Py Py" for the MPM re-release.
